Questions about Housemap

Treat them as a starting point. They are estimates from public records and AI and can be wrong. A qualified pro confirms on site before any work.

Any US street address. Public property records are connected in some states today: Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York (participating counties), Maryland, North Carolina, Florida, Minnesota (Twin Cities metro), Utah. Elsewhere you add year built, size and home type yourself, and the plan uses what you enter. Records can leave fields blank and can be a year or more old.

It is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI service to read the label. Housemap does not store the photo. Only the text read from it is kept, and only if you save your file.

Nothing, until you tick the box and press Save. Then the address, the record facts, your equipment details, the flagged items, the date and an email if you add one.

A saved file has a private link that opens it with everything in it and lets you change it. There is no password: the link is the key, so keep it to yourself. You can also make a household link that lets the people you live with see the file without changing it. Making a new link turns the old one off.

A list of the jobs done at the house: the date, what was done, who did it, the cost and notes if you add them, and how often it repeats. Each job shows when it was last done and when it is due again. You can print the whole history or save it as a PDF.

Housemap writes when the weather or the season calls for something at the house, such as a freeze warning from the National Weather Service, and when a job in your logbook is due again. Reminders start only after you confirm by email, and every email has a one click unsubscribe.

In Massachusetts, yes: each item has a Get it done button. Outside Massachusetts, Handy Circle pros are not in your area yet. You can leave an email with your saved file to hear when pros join near you.

Housemap costs nothing to use during the beta. If you book work through Handy Circle, you see upfront pricing with no hidden fees before you confirm.

A short list in your file for the things that keep a house safe: the year your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms went in, when the fire extinguisher was made, when the dryer vent was last cleaned, when you last tested the sump pump and the GFCI outlets, and the water heater year. Anything past its typical life or due again shows in your plan and, with reminders on, in your email. Logging a job like a cleaned dryer vent moves its date for you.

Every file you save or open with a private or household link on this device shows in a My houses row under the address box. Tap one to open it. The list lives only on your device.

Tap Hand over to the next owner in your file. The house facts, equipment, safety dates and every logged job stay with the house, and you get one new private link to give the buyer. Your old private link, the household link, your email and your reminders stop. Nothing is deleted.

In Massachusetts, Book a pro and Get it done open Handy Circle, which earns when you book work there. Some product links, like a filter in your size, may earn a commission; those are marked Paid link next to the link. Housemap does not sell your data, there is no paid plan, and pros cannot pay to be shown to you.

Yes. When you log a job, tap Fill from a receipt photo. Claude reads the date, total, company, phone number and job, you check each field, and the photo is stored with that job so you can open it later. Only your private and household links can open it.

Make a contractor link in your file and send it to the pro. They add that one job (what they did, their name and number, cost, notes and a receipt photo) and the link closes. They see only the street name, never your file. The link expires after 7 days.

A question box on your saved file. Ask when the filter was last changed or what you spent on plumbing this year, and Claude answers from your file only. If your file does not say, the answer tells you that instead of guessing. Up to 20 questions per house a day.

In Documents on your saved file. Add a photo or a PDF up to 4 MB, pick the kind (warranty, manual, closing papers, inspection, permit, receipt) and open it any time with your private or household link. Up to 200 per house.

Yes. Rooms and things keeps each item with its room, brand, model, serial number, what it cost, when you bought it and a photo. The totals come from your own numbers; Housemap does not estimate values.

No. Value, mortgage and tax holds numbers you type yourself: what you paid, your own estimate and where it came from, the mortgage and the tax bill. Nothing is looked up, and it never shows on the public link.

Yes. Make a household link and switch it to Can add. They can add jobs, receipts, documents and things, marked as added with the household link, and cannot change or remove anything. Switch it back to Read only or turn it off any time.

How complete the file is, out of 100, counted from what is in it: house facts, equipment, safety dates, a job in the last year, documents, rooms and things, money notes, reminders and a household link. It lists the next few things worth adding.

When you change your file or use the AI (saving, scans, receipts, questions, logbook jobs, contractor links, reminders), Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the request comes from a real browser and not a bot. Most of the time you see nothing.

Yes. Housemap started as Home File at ai.handy-circle.com. That address and old links to it still open Housemap.
